Pilates Overview
Pilates is an anatomically-based approach to the original mind body exercise method pioneered by the late Joseph H. Pilates.  The original
Pilates method focuses on eight principles:  control, breath, flow, precision, centering, stability, range of motion, and opposition.   It is a stretching
and strengthening workout that targets the deepest muscles in the body to create a strong core without the pain associated with conventional
exercises such as muscles tissue tears, jarring impact on joints, or muscular exhaustion.  Pilates will create balance in the body by strengthening
weak muscles while lengthening bulky one.

Yoga Overview
Yoga has its beginnings in Indian prehistory.  It is not a religion but a technique or practice that combines both the mental and physical natures of
our being.  One of the primary purposes of yoga is to inhabit the idea of uniting opposites so as to bring greater balance into our lives.  When we
practice the poses (asanas), we literally experience this union of opposites thus allowing us to temper our effort with ease.  Yoga has been
developed and refined over the centuries to strengthen and energize the body and mind and can be used by anyone with great benefit.

General Fitness Overview
General fitness classes come in many forms (circuit training, aerobics, strength training, etc).  A fitness class, that addresses the three facets of
fitness (cardiovascular endurance, muscular strength, and flexibility), is one that is built on a strong foundation of exercise science.  To see
cardiovascular gains, one must work in their target heart rate range for 20-30 minutes.  For gains in strength, one must work to muscular
exhaustion within a set number of repetitions and set weight.  To improve flexibility, one must perform both dynamic and static stretching
exercises to increase range of motion.  Flexibility training is very important because it reduces the chance of delayed onset of muscle soreness
(DOMS) after a workout and also it helps prevent injury.
